António Celso Mangucci

Researcher at the Centre for Art History and Artistic Research (CHAIA) of the University of Évora. He holds a PhD in Art History (2020) from the University of Évora, focused on the science-themed visual programmes of the Baroque tiles decorating Jesuit colleges. Having lived in Portugal for many years, he specialized in the history of Portuguese tiles. Among several projects, he collaborated with the National Azulejo Museum in an exhibition on the presence of chinoiserie in Portuguese ceramics, and with the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in the reissue of the work Azulejaria em Portugal no século XVIII (Azulejos in Portugal in the 18th century), by João Miguel dos Santos Simões. His main research interests include the study of erudite decorative programmes transposed to 17th and 18th century tiles.
