Teresa Silva

Technician at João Miguel dos Santos Simões Thematic Network for the Study of Azulejos and Ceramics (RTEACJMSS) from October 2007 to February 2014, during which time she obtained a technical research scholarship (BTI) with the National Azulejo Museum and ARTIS-IHA/FLUL as the host institutions.  

She was a scholarship holder at Az from February to July 2015, with a scholarship funded by the Joana Vasconcelos Foundation, to work on the project Az.Thesaurus, and remained a collaborator until 2016.  

Teresa Silva attended the Course for Conservation and Restoration Technicians promoted by IPPAR and held at the National Azulejo Museum from 1990 to 1993. She was a founding member of the companies CR5, Conservação e Restauro de Bens Móveis e Imóveis, Lda. [1995-2007] and Planos de Restauro, Soc. Uni. Lda. [2007].

She worked as a trainer from 1999 to 2000 on a practical course promoted by the Ricardo Espírito Santo Silva Foundation with the aim of restoring an 18th century tile set depicting the city of Lisbon prior to the 1755 earthquake. The course took place in the cloister and the chapter house of the Convent of the Third Order of Saint Francis, in Salvador da Bahia, Brazil. 

She also taught a module on tile conservation and restoration at the School of Traditional Arts and Crafts, in Lisbon, from 2003 to 2004, as well as a module on dyes and ceramic glazing, at the same institution, from 2004 to 2005. Moreover, she has worked as a conservator and restorer of azulejos and ceramics since 1993.
