Lúcia Marinho

Researcher at Az since 2007. She got her PhD in History (History of Art) from the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon in 2018. Her doctoral dissertation, on Saint Teresa of Jesus in Azulejos and Paintings from the 18th century was supervised by Vitor Serrão, co-supervised by Alexandre Pais and funded by a PhD scholarship from FCT (SFRH/BD/76753/2011).

In 2010 she obtained a Master’s degree in Art, Heritage and Restoration from the same university, with a dissertation entitled Guardiães do Tempo: A Arte da Relojoaria na Colecção da Casa-Museu Dr. Anastácio Gonçalves (Keepers of Time: The Art of Horology in the Collection of the Dr. Anastácio Gonçalves House-Museum), under the supervision of Vítor Serrão and the co-supervision of Luís Couto Soares, an expert in the field of horology. In this thesis, she studied the representation of clocks on tile decorations.

She collaborated with the Dr. Anastácio Gonçalves House-Museum from 2003 to 2005, in the inventory and exhibitions department, and participated in the organization of the temporary exhibition João Vaz (1859-1931) – A Painter of Naturalism, held in 2005.

As a researcher of Az she participated in projects such as  Az Infinitum – Azulejo Indexation and Referencing System, Inventory and study of the tile heritage of the Central Lisbon Hospital Centre, Tile façades from Ovar and Iconclass’ translation into Portuguese, among others.

Recently, she collaborated with João Loureiro in the Series on the Life of Saint Teresa of Jesus and Saint John of the Cross inspired by the Holy Spirit and the Transverberation of the heart of Saint Teresa (pp. 390-400) from the book Cathedral and Diocesan Museum of Santarém, supervised by the Diocesan Museum of Santarém.
