Isabel Pires

Researcher at Az from October 2007 to June 2013, funded by a research scholarship (BI) awarded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (SFRH/BI/33163/2007).

She holds a Master’s degree in Art History from the School of Arts and Humanities of the University of Lisbon, with a dissertation on Fachadas Azulejadas na Margem Sul do Tejo - Barreiro (1850-1925) (Tiled Façades in the South Bank of the Tagus – Barreiro), supervised by Vítor Serrão and co-supervised by Francisco Queiroz (2013).

Isabel Pires holds a License degree in History (Art History variant) from the same university (1996). In 1999 she specialized in the teaching of History (Art History variant), having concluded a postgraduation in Art History, Heritage and Restoration Theory in 2008, at the same institution.

She collaborated with the Abade de Baçal Museum, in Bragança (2002-2003), by helping upload the museum’s collection into the Matriz platform, and with the National Azulejo Museum (2003-2008) as a technician in the field of collection inventory and management. She has conducted research on azulejos and co-authored, with Rosário Salema de Carvalho, the Repertoire of Tile Heritage in the Montijo Municipality. Survey and Creation of a Thematic Inventory, which was coordinated by Alexandra Gago da Câmara. Pires was also responsible for the digitalization of the survey carried out during the project Inventory of 18th Century Tile Heritage in Mainland Portugal. Creation of Iconographic Repertoires.
