Fundação Joana Vasconcelos

Joana Vasconcelos Foundation
[2014]

The presence of azulejos in the work of Joana Vasconcelos, as well previous partnerships (namely the scientific assistance provided in connection with the work “Trafaria Praia”, at the Portuguese Pavilion of the 55th Venice Biennale, in 2013) led to the establishment of a cooperation protocol with her foundation, signed on 21 April 2014.

Among the document’s main objectives, it is worth highlighting the cooperation in activities and projects of the Joana Vasconcelos Foundation (FJV) involving tile heritage; support and monitoring in the study of pieces from the FJV collection; support to Az projects, in particular the project Cataloguing Portuguese tile patterns; the joint organization of activities such as conferences, colloquia or even exhibitions that are in the interest of both parties; the publication of works related to the previous points; and the collaboration and mutual support in actions intended to promote and preserve Portuguese tile heritage.

All activities undertaken in the context of this protocol will be mediated by specific agreements, which will establish the details of the cooperation. A first agreement was signed on 28 Abril 2014, concerning the financial support granted by the FJV to the project Az Infinitum – Azulejo Indexation and Referencing System
